We said goodbye to our founder this year. We hope that he and his lady watched over the event
and were happy with what they saw. Despite our loss, Mermaids was great fun this year! We
had a fabulous public demo that brought more people in than any year before. It was very
successful. We brought back some old activities and added a few new ones that were a hit.
The Miss Mermaid contest was fun for all. The contest was judged by Baroness Kateryn
and THL Tatiana.
Our four lovely contestants.
And the winner is.......
Katelyn
of House Trinity
Once Miss Mermaid was crowned, the battle to win the Mermaid's Favor was underway.
Katelyn was a polite and proper Miss Mermaid and watched the battle diligently.
She did, however, have to ask Baron Alasdair to please
step aside as he was blocking her view.
He very graciously obliged, bowing deeply and apologizing
to "her Highness".
It was very enjoyable and memorable exchange.

Each person fought bravely for the
honor of Miss Mermaid's Favor.
But only one could win. That honor
went to THL Murdoch Mcarthur
Miss Mermaid and her valient
defender
We tried something new this year that was more than well met! Our first Period Food Fear Factor
was not only a fun time for all, but put the rest of the event on hold as everyone wanted to watch!
We had 2 food entries: an "interesting soup" from Rose Marian (recipe will be posted shortly) and a
beautifully displayed aspic by Countess Gwyneth. We had 6 brave suckers, I mean souls to taste
them.
Everyone actually enjoyed Rose Marian's soup. It was
said it was much like many things that have been
served at various feasts. They did not state which
feasts...
Then came Gwyneth's dish. Doesn't it look tasty?
One by one they fell until there were only two.
We thought Nic was a shoe-in as he finished his
portion in seconds. But James sent Nic over the
edge by asking him to "suck the meat off the
knuckles".
